On 9 July 2024, the Australian Government announced the appointment of Ms Jillian Segal AO as Special Envoy to Combat Antisemitism in Australia.
As Special Envoy, Ms Segal will listen to and engage with Jewish Australians, the wider Australian community and all levels of government on the most effective way to combat the growing problem of antisemitism.
Ms Segal has been appointed for a three-year term and will work directly with the Prime Minister, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, and the Minister for Home Affairs, the Hon Tony Burke MP. While the Special Envoy is tasked with providing government with advice in relation to combatting antisemitism, her office and statements are independent of Government.
